Summer 2013 Baking Party #6: Nutella Rice Krispy Treats

Hello again!
I have yet another Baking Party recipe to share with all of you - Chef in Training's Nutella Rice Krispy Treats (and we made the Blueberry Muffins again from Baking Party #5.)

Nutella Rice Krispy Treats
  • I would definitely only suggest this recipe to those who are completely in love with Nutella or anyone who has a big sweet tooth. It's really sweet!
  • Use a smaller pan - I would suggest a 9x9 pan. Nysha and I had used a 9x13 and the rice krispies ended up breaking easily when cut and required twice as much topping for just a thin layer.
  • Be prepared for difficult clean-up. Melting marshmallows, chocolate, and Nutella in a saucepan is not exactly the recipe for easy dishwashing. Set aside at least 20 minutes afterwards to do the dishes.

To Prevent Blueberries From "Bleeding" In the Oven

Freeze or refrigerate the blueberries right before mixing them into the batter. This will keep the berries from bursting and "bleeding" in the oven.

Nutritional Benefits of Blueberries (from Nutrition-and-you.com)

  • among the highest anti-oxidant value fruits
  • health benefiting plant-nutrients such as soluble dietary fiber, minerals, vitamins, and pigment anti-oxidants that contribute immensely towards optimum health and wellness.
  • help lower blood sugar levels and control blood-glucose levels in type-II diabetes

Psalm 55:22
